This should be for everyone as most prefer to do certain things on this site or play certain games. Using the keyboard and mouse is great to find what you need. But it'd be cool to hide features or games that you don't use often but would like to use in the future. And disable features that you don't use (or can't due to your membership status) at all.
Like the profiles, to be able to add code in fields to customize the colors on each member's start pages. Last time I had high contrast turned off, I wasn't able to see anything at all on the page. White with light colored links. It'll give each member to show their creativity and to also match what their profile looks to their start page. I understand that what colors (or background images - Images must be remotely uploaded on the web i.e. photobucket) you choose will affect everything that member does on the zone. So if a person uses a background image or a dark color it'll be shown everywhere. I saw this on myspace where people were allowed to customize their profiles, photo pages, blogs and boards. Thought since some of us can see or have limited vision that we could do something like this.

Yeah before html was disabled on the zone's profiles I was able to add color or images to my profile. Now I can't. All I can do is just add html code for blold/italic or underline. Line breaks, bullet/number lists and website urls. With high contrast turned off, it's very hard on my eyes which for those who can see it's white background with blue links, black text.
Games or features that I barely use, I'd just hide. And games/features I don't like or play at all I'd disable.
Also for a idea to customize one's start page is to have a buddy list. Now before you all drop a knife down my throat it won't divide the community unless you have the feature enabled. I only come on this site to talk to certain people. To maybe just see people I want to talk to instead of seeing a entire list of those who are currently online. Buddy list can be used for emails, private quick notes, quick notes, and if possible ventrilo/skype. Eyes2Eyes.com has a feature like this for boards and private mail. I mean we have a ignore list why not a buddy list? It'll also give us even more flexibility to customize our zone main page even further.
Hey this keeps getting better and better, I like the ideas your bringing. Hopefully the community leaders or Admins will post to this.

I actually agree with this suggestion. While we may harbor the altruistic idea that the Zone is one big, fluffy, loving community, the truth is hardly the stuff of fantasy. People will segregate even if we don't provide them the means to do so, and sometimes, self-imposed segregation is better than enforced socialization. Lets face it: Some of the zone members don't, and probably never will, do good in an all-out community kind of effort.
Agreed on this one. Those who I talk to use to have Messenger devices such as Aim, MSN or Yahoo but don't use them anymore. They prefer Skype and Ventrilo which even though Ventrilo is a nice program, I no longer have the privacy or the mic to do it. And so the zone is the only other place to hook up as the people I communicate on here can't afford the phone calls from coast to coast to get in touch with me via phone.
I think the zone should stay as is, if you have friends you rather pay attention to or whatever that's what messanger's off the zone should be fore.
If you didn't see the post above. Most of my friends now use Ventrilo and Skype and no longer use Messengers such as Aim, MSN and Yahoo. And Ventrilo and Skype is unaccessible to me and maybe others due to either Internet speeds, no privacy or difference in time zones or no microphone. Pay a little more attention to what others say. I hate having to repeat myself.
i used to use msn, but don't like it any more. i really like this idea.
I haven't been using the messenger much anymore either. I found it much easier to talk with people through the Zone BBS than having 3 or 4 different boxes open on a messenger, that gets annoying. Mu computer can't handle Skype or Ventrillo so the Zone BBS is my main hang out place to talk to my friends nowdays.
3 out of 10 I speak to (or are online) on Messenger, 3 out of 12 who are online or I speak to and out of 6 on Yahoo 0 are never online. I can't seem to find a good quality messenger service that'll allow me to do all 3. Then again in a few here I might remove yahoo perminately and leave Aim and Msn as my primaries. Now I see a few people from both lists on here. So I'm on Private Quick Notes on the zone as a chat service. It'd be really cool to be able to customize the actual main page to hide modules and or have some visible.
What we should do is not hide the modules, but hide the links. Like blingo, don't use it but i don't want to hide the games pannel. Like on my yahoo or some thing like that. If you don't really pay atention to say the users list, hide it. And if you want the users list but not how many people who are invisable, then just hide that.
Yup thats what we're trying to get across. Not sure if this is gonna go with the admins as it's been a week now and not one admin or cl looked at this and replied with a "It'll work" or "We don't feel like putting a new feature in." or "It simply wont work.".
Love this idea. Think it would make the sight better and the fact that you have your own page pop up first instead of the homepage would be better. It's more personalized that way. Like it.
Buddy list already exists as a premium feature. It's called "person watch." Now quite frankly, that's a waste of premium only code, and should be available for all of us.
I also like all of these ideas. I love more choices. Life is about choice, and the zone would go further if it had more choices on how things are viewed. I personally don't like the ""ignore" link, I won't ever ignore anyone for example so why should I see it? Having these moguals would also make the pages less cludderd in my opinion. John

If we did this, I would have a <body bgcolor="#000000" text="#FFFFFF"> in my profile which would also go to the main page.
And yet the Admins and Community Leaders have failed to respond to this so far. I still like these ideas, however we won't know a damn thing until they reply and put "Yes, it can be done but will take some time" or "No, this isn't ging to work". Something around that.
I klike it because there is a lot here i do not use but also I have had to resort to ignoring people I hid the ignore links which makes it a lot easier to load navigate and just easier. I have managed here just by ignoring by number the way i usually did anyway so there is an oddity me who tries to work shit out ignoring people oh well I for once like this
A bit of good news: I'm out of high contrast and it shows the site as all black with white text. Problems: Text should be bolded through out the site, and make sure links are white to add contrast.
This wasn't my idea of backgrounds.... I asked that maybe we could choose our own colors and effects for the site for our own use? And to also hide things we don't use? God people need to read carefully through the board posts not just judge and say "Well they want a background change...." But never asked us if we wanted it in a form where we could change it ourselves........
Ok now it's back to that blinding white background w/black text. Can we please go back to the black background w/white text?
